The Cadena is a classic South Texas hunting and cattle ranch. The ranch is very well improved with excellent wildlife habitat and lots of water. There is one artesian well that keeps a large lake full year-round. There are 8 water wells equipped with electric submersible pumps, 7 solar water wells, and 2 windmills, supplying water to 20 water troughs.
There are 3 nice houses on the Cadena. All of the houses are in very good condition.
The Cadena is mostly low-fenced with the exception of about 3 miles of high fence. There are 16 pastures and traps that allow easy rotation and gathering of cattle. There are also 5 sets of cattle working pens at strategic locations throughout the ranch.
The Cadena deer habitat is outstanding, with 5 different creeks and drainages crossing the ranch. The deer herd has been managed for many years. The MLDP program on the Cadena is set up and continues under the Conservation option. All survey and harvest information is available on request. Approximately 70% of the ranch is all native brush, with about 30% that has been mechanically cleared in strips to offer excellent quail hunting. The sandy soils are ideal for growing native forbs, the sustaining food source for quail and dove.
The Cadena is located between Realitos and Benavides with access off of Hwy 359, Hwy 339, and FM 716. The airport in Hebbronville is a 30-minute drive. The airports in Kingsville or Alice are 45-minute drives.
Property can be divided into two ranches that are 4,120 acres each and one ranch that is 1,582 acres. Each of these three ranches would have good access and plenty of water.
